Nivatha Balendra is a 2nd year BSc. student in Physiology and International Development at McGill University. Her work focuses on environmental remediation in the field of oil contamination, specifically, using Pseudomonas genus microbes capable of degrading oil. Her goal is to develop a sustainable product capable of remediating oil contamination sites. She is also the founder of the International Young Scientists Mentorship Program (IYSMP), a registered student-led non-profit organization.
IYSMP aims to provide enriching STEM opportunities for high school/CEGEP students in addition to mentorship and guidance.
