My name is Takudzwa Lavin Mapinge. I am a graduate from the Social Work Diploma Program at MacEwan University. I live in a small rural community, the village of Rycroft, nested in the Peace Country Region of Northern Alberta. I work as a Health Care Aide (HCA) at Spirit River Hospital and I am in the work place HCA program with Norquest College. I did and still do voluntary work at Spirit River Hospital in Long Term Care Recreation and Infection Control Department. My family migrated from Zimbabwe Southern Africa. Whilst in Zimbabwe I worked with vulnerable communities whilst I was studying community development. I did voluntary work at Matthew Ruiske Children’s Home in Epworth, shadowing the care worker and project manager.
I also volunteered at Ruwa Rehabilitation Hospital. I write poetry as a hobby and gather inspiration from the various communities I work with. I am highly passionate about advocacy and enhancement of individual and community pride.
