Aditi Sivakumar: Kanata--Carleton

Hello everyone, My name is Aditi Sivakumar. I am a recent graduate from the Life Science Program at Queen’s University, and I am currently applying to medical school. Volunteering has always been a huge portion of my life. A few of the organizations I am currently volunteering with include the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, the Chrysalis House, the Red Oak Retirement Home, and the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. Through volunteering, I have met the most incredible individuals, made life long friendships, and have grown immensely as an individual. Volunteering has provided me the opportunity to hone my public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills. In 2018, I was honored to receive the United Way Community Builder Award, Volunteer Ottawa’s Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award, have my name engraved on the Wall of Inspiration at City Hall, been featured in magazines APT613 and Glue, selected as a finalist for the Celebration of People Volunteer award, and received the Governor General Sovereign Medal for Volunteers. In 2019 I was nominated as a Finalist for the 2019 Max Keep Humanitarian Award and provided the opportunity to represent Canada at the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations. I’m truly honored to be selected as a delegate for the Daughters of the Vote Delegation, and I’m excited to share this experience with all of you! - Aditi
