Georgina Johnston: Burnaby South

My name is Georgina Johnston and I am a third year First Nations Studies student at Simon Fraser University. I am Squamish, Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English. I was raised on the traditional, ancestral and unceeded territory of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish peoples in Burnaby B.C. After I finish my bachelor's degree, I plan on becoming an elementary school teacher, with the goal of implementing Indigenous pedagogy and content into all aspects of education. I am passionate about all Canadians learning the assimilationist policies that Canada has implemented in its past and the continued injustices Indigenous peoples face in the present.
