Julia Cluett-McCullough: Waterloo

Julia is a political and community activist passionate about feminism, LGBTQ issues, mental health, pharmacare and sexual health. She has been an election volunteer since the age of fifteen and been heavily involved in politics since. She sits on the Ontario NDP’s Provincial Council and has been an active member of the party in many roles, including sitting on her local riding association for four years. Julia is also an active volunteer with multiple organizations within her community. She was a co-leader of an LGBTQ Youth Leadership Group, co-leading a team of youth working to plan a one-day conference for LGBTQ youth and their teachers, providing education, a safe and inclusive space, and bringing community together. In 2017, Julia received a Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities Recognition Program award from the Ontario Ministry for the Status of Women for her community and volunteer service. In her spare time Julia enjoys reading, writing and swimming.
