Tsahai Carter: Markham-Stouffville

Tsahai Carter is a second-year student of Political Science at the University of Ottawa. As a young queer woman living in Canada, Tsahai is passionate about the Public Service and functioning of the country at its highest level. Her French immersion program with a minor in Spanish gives her the opportunity to explore both her interest in public affairs, along with her interest in languages and culture. Tsahai’s ultimate goal is to engage in the public sector to improve the quality of service and contribute to the daily life of Canadians. Tsahai has had many opportunities to be a leader and participate in youth activism and engagement. Ranging from representing her region on the Ontario Minister of Education’s youth advisory council to participating in the Youth Ambassadors Program with the U.S. Embassy and State Department. Tsahai is equally engaged in student-led LGBT pride organisations and groups supporting Black and Caribbean students. She is the founder of a region-wide gender and sexuality alliance for students in her hometown of Markham, Ontario. Tsahai is currently focused on her studies which include exchange and work opportunities through Co-op placements.
