Jenna Lee is a grade 12 student at Ascension Collegiate and plans to earn a dual-degree in both Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry in the fall at the University of Ottawa. She hopes to use this degree to create a career that encompasses both her passion for math and science, and her love for personal health and hygiene. Jenna Lee is currently a member of both her high school’s Student Activity committee and the Social Justice group, as well is a founding member of her school’s Relay for Life committee and to date has helped to put off two extremely successful Relay’s in her community. She has attended WE Day, an international conference celebrating volunteerism in youth worldwide, RADHOC, various provincial GSA conferences, is a member of the 2015 Ambassador Program, and is an avid volunteer in her school and community. Jenna Lee is very passionate about defeating stigmas around both mental health, and LGBTQ+ issues, and is a strong believer that conflict and hate can only ever be truly defeated through knowledge. Jenna Lee is also a SHAD ’19 fellow, and is very passionate about creating an equal playing field in both the world of STEM and sports. She has faced discrimination first hand in both of these areas various times throughout her short life, and hopes that through both determined young trailblazers like herself, and programs like Daughters of the Vote, no women or girl will ever be told they “can’t” again.
