Rodala Aranya is in her first year at Carleton University pursuing a degree in Global and International Studies specializing in Global Development with a minor in Economics. A leader in her community, Rodala has been actively involved both locally and internationally. With a passion for the arts, she learned Bharatnatyam for over ten years and was a mentor and dance teacher in her Bengali community. She has volunteered for Proyah international, a non-profit focused on bringing literacy to rural villages in Bangladesh. This past summer she was chosen as a Leacrose Scholarship recipient and embarked on an educational expedition to the Arctic with the foundation Students on Ice, where she grew a passion for the polar regions. Moving to Ottawa, Rodala has gotten engaged with international development organizations and climate action projects. Passionate about a variety of topics such as development ethics, international law and politics, climate action and policy, Indigenous rights, and so much more, Rodala is looking forward to honing her interests during her undergrad. Above anything else, she wants to bring meaningful and sustainable change to communities, whether that be right here at home or somewhere across the ocean.
