Daughters of the Vote testify to the Status of Women Committee
Young women from British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario appeared before the House of Commons Status of Women Committee during the historic Daughters of the Vote week in Ottawa, March 2017.
Victoria deJong, of Edmonton Griesbach, Elinor McNamee, Network Leader and delegate for Delta, Melinda J. Phuong, from Thornhill, and Estelle Ah-Kiow delegate for Mississauga – Lakeshore, testified about the importance of young women’s participation in politics and the need for diversity and inclusion.
They spoke to the need for leadership and mentorship and the risk of cyber bullying and harassment and the impact on women’s confidence and ability to participate in politics. Watch their testimony here.
