Emily Haugen: Langley--Aldergrove

I am a third year business student, specializing in marketing management. I also work for the Fraser Northwest Division of Family Practice as a research assistant and admin support. Some of my passions include the advocacy for women in leadership positions, such as CEO's of Fortune 500 companies and all levels of public office. My future career goal would ideally be working in a socially conscious company that supports women, minorities, and the environment in its daily operations. I am also very passionate about Canadian Indigenous land rights and truth and reconciliation. I fully support the truth and reconciliation mandates to ensure we as Canadians can move forward peacefully with the original peoples of this land we call home. Within my university I was a member of the Kwantlen Student Association board of directors as the Indigenous Students Representative. I continue to serve the KSA as a committee member on various committees which aim to make the university experience rewarding for all students. I recently returned from a study abroad semester in Scotland where I also spent time volunteering for Cancer Research UK. Because my experience studying in Scotland was so rewarding, I am currently applying for scholarships to fund another study abroad semester, this time in Vienna, Austria next year. Travelling the world and exploring new places is one of my favourite things to do, and I hope to do as much of it as I can.
