Emily Lemon graduated from Georgian College, Owen Sound in June 2018 earning an Early Childhood Education Diploma and receiving a Retired Teachers of Ontario Graduation Scholarship recognizing her perseverance to complete a college diploma. Emily has lived in Meaford her whole life and has always been an active participant in community events. In 2017, she received a Canada 150 Certificate recognizing her volunteer efforts. Emily, ever since she was 5 years old, has collected donations, cut and donated her pigtails to make wigs for children through the Bluewater Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society. Emily has made nine pigtail donations, more than enough hair to make a full wig, and raised over $1000 for the cause during the 2017 campaign. This year she is part of the group organizing Owen Sound’s major fundraising event. Emily was named most enthusiastic senior member of the Beaver Valley 4-H Sheep Club in 2014. She was the second runner up in Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Ladies Lead and Wool Competition in 2016 and 2017. Emily works part time at Georgian Peaks Ski Club and also provides evening childcare for families. Emily is very involved in her church, teaching Sunday school and acting as an usher and greeter. Emily was nominated for an Ontario Junior Citizen Award for community involvement, was the recipient of the North Grey Women’s Institute award for completing over 1000 hours community service hours, and received the Grey County Women’s Institute Rally Award for her work in the community.
