Gemma is a first year student at Carleton University in the Global and International Studies program. With a specialization and great interest in Global Politics, she is very interested in how global issues and institutions affect individuals differently. Through her studies, she is also intrigued by the way that Women and Gender studies and Indigenous studies intersect and interact with politics. In the Halton Hills community, Gemma teaches karate as a black belt to kids and adults as well as plays soccer for her hometown of Georgetown. As the valedictorian of her high school and an active member of the community, she wants to represent her hometown riding to the greatest extent. During her short couple of months in Ottawa so far, she has been volunteering for the Member of Parliament she will be representing during the program, the Hon. Michael Chong. Gemma is very excited to take the content learned and relationships gained throughout the Daughters of the Vote program to her communities in both Halton Hills and Ottawa.
