Tansi my name is Kaitlin Bird and I am from Montreal Lake Cree Nation. I am currently attending University of Saskatchewan to get a Political Studies degree. When I am done, I am hoping to get into a law school. As an Indigenous Woodland Cree women, I hold on to my tradition roots. I have my own trapline that’s been passed down generations in my family. I like to hunt, fish, and trap on my traditional lands. Growing up on a reserve has made me want to better my community for the future generations, I couldn’t do that without leaving to attend University. Now that I am attending University I volunteer with the University’s Women’s Centre and Food Centre. I am also an Indigenous Representative on the University of Saskatchewan Student Council.
