Kaitlyn Peters: Niagara Centre

My name is Kaitlyn and I am a fourth year engineering student at the University of Guelph, here representing my home riding of Niagara Centre. My interest in the Daughter’s of the Vote program began largely through my involvement with Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB). Through EWB, I learned about the importance of being an active citizen and how to use my voice to make change. As the President of the EWB Guelph Chapter this year I have help my chapter bring the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the Guelph community through EWB’s Hello 2030 campaign. The SDGs are a global commitment to creating a sustainable world where everyone has the equal opportunity to thrive. I believe these goals have the power to guide us a to a prosperous future; at home and around the world. In my free time, I love to dance. For the past two years I have been the choreographer for Guelph’s Engineering Musical which has been such a fun opportunity. It’s a great space to relax, have fun, and be artistic, which tends to be hard to find in engineering sometimes.I am very grateful to be at Daughter’s of the Vote. I know I will learn some much from every part of this week whether it be the other delegates, members of parliament, and anyone else my path crosses with. I can’t wait to meet all the other delegates and share this experience with them.
