The Daughter of the Vote for Elmwood-Transcona, Shania Pruden, was awarded a Canada150 Medal by Senator Marilou McPhedran. Shania was recognized for her work on mental health, Indigenous rights, and missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. During the historic Daughters of the Vote event, Shania testified to the Status of Women Committee about violence against young Indigenous women.
Senator McPhedran described Shania “as a true advocate for human rights”. Shania will be honoured alongside eleven others on International Human Rights Day, December 10th.
