Raghed Al-Areibi: Elgin--Middlesex--London

Raghed Al-Areibi is a third year studying international relations at Western University in London Ontario. Raghed grew up in London after she immigrated with her family from Libya at the age of the three. During her time at Western, she has taken up the role of Children’s Health Foundation Western Ambassador as well as participating in the Western Pre-Law Society. Outside of her academic commitments, she is on the Youth Council for the Elgin-Middlesex-London riding, as well as a 2019 United Nations Delegate. Raghed is dedicated to working on the international and domestic level for the rights of women and children, as well the rights of Indigenous people in Canada. Raghed hopes to pursue law school after her undergraduate degree and obtain a dual JD degree from both, Canada and the United States to continue her internaitonal work. Raghed is committed to using her opportunity with the Daughters of the Vote initiative to kickstart her work in politics and work towards promoting more female presence in higher political positions. Raghed believes that as todays youth who will be tomorrows leaders, there needs to be an opportunity to discuss, debate, and negotiate current standing issues that people are afraid to talk about.
