Updated Bio: Susan Ly has believed in actively creating a difference within her community since the age of 12 and has been involved in many initiatives that strive to educate and produce positive contributions for the greater good. During her undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, Susan was a member of AIESEC Laurier, WLU Rotaract, Laurier International, WLU World University Service of Canada (WUSC), the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, and the Residence Department. She also remained involved in the community, organizing Pop-up Street Stores and empowering youth through Rotary initiatives. One of her greatest accomplishments was initiating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Training at Wilfrid Laurier University. This event was part of a larger movement, one of the 50 events across Canadian universities and colleges. Her team mobilized 135 students and inspired them to pursue initiatives that lead to achieving the 17 Goals. To provide a platform for empowered students, she founded the Laurier SDG Advocacy Network. To further advocate for the SDGs, Susan co-founded the SDG Impact Alliance at the University of Waterloo. Through this youth-led network, she recently organized the Global Solutions Conference, which promoted interdisciplinary collaboration for holistic sustainable change. As a candidate of the Masters in Public Service program at the University of Waterloo, Susan hopes to pursue a career in policy development for sustainable communities.
